Seriously?  over three weeks without a post to the blog
 Oh Shame!

Well actually I have a boatload of excuses.

 Most legit. Some sketchy.

If you don't like any of them .... Pick up the shattered pieces of your miserable existence and move the heck on!

Cause, well,  this is MY BLOG ALLLLLLLLLLL MIIIIIIINE.

I came back from my trip up to the mountains with a cold that didn't let go for the better part of three weeks. My treatments in the past year and recent surgery make ear, nose, throat issues especially vexing.

In the immortal words of a famous philosopher....

And now NEWS from the home front

Mom's 7 day a week caregiver, Lee, has gone back to school and is only able to come over three days a week, Fri, Sat, Sunday. Initially we had discussed a replacement caregiver to fill in, but that could bring a whole new host of issues/problems ranging from personality conflicts, to he said-she said issues. I can only imagine the potential rivalries that could develop in BarbieLand.

So I decided this was an/the opportune time to begin the weaning process and get mom headed down the self suffiency highway. We had originally wanted the caregiver situation to self wean after just a couple months but, well, not so much.

So while the first week was challenging (basically she called Glenoneone and I came over to be the caregiver). We began a learning process of how to make breakfast, oatmeal and coffee, fix snacks/lunches for herself.

First day tenuous, next day better and she is now once again capable of preparing her own breakfast on a daily basis. A couple of minor spills but all in all she's further down the road to independence than she would be if we continued the madness. We're learning where to put things like raisins and cereal to make them much more accessible.

So two weeks down that road and with the exception of filing off some rough edges we are getting things in order.  Lee comes over on Friday and the weekend and does the shopping and laundry and gets things shipshape for the coming week. And I get much needed R&R for a few hours on those days when I don't have to be on alert.

Today Quinn and Scott (AKA Gepetto and Wednesday brought a magic walking talking standing chair LC-205

It's analog and unfortunately, not hackable. Bwahaha.  Cause if left to my own devices, this is more what I would have come up with.

Bwahahaha. Just Sayin.

I'd take my chances with a jury, I really would!

Nobody Knows Da Struggles I's been through.

  1. Well, Happy New Year ~ Chief Bottle Washer! Lovely 90th Birthday present - the chair - and she really enjoyed her party. Beware: Wylie children left alone do get into mischief. Glad you are on the mend, again - hope it sticks better this time. Do you know about food delivery - like Munchery? Adds a layer of diversion @ reasonable price/value/need. Will try to do better at calling. Take care - and I'm glad you got to go to the mountains ~
