Saturday is Bath/Shower Day over at 99 and today did not disappoint!

Apparently mom thought Tuesday (AKA Quinn) needed a bath as well so she flat hosed her down and then proceeded to guffaw nearly uncontrollably.

While Quinn was drying herself off! We heard the two of them squalling but both Scott and I know not to venture anywhere near the shower during bathing time. Better for the whole bonding experience.

Gipetto was busy cooking and preparing meals in the kitchen while I was over helping Jan, moms neighbor with some technical issues.

Mom is VERY happy to have her Number One personal Chef back from vacation. Apparently "Chopped Liver Chef" (your humble author) just wasn't cutting it.

After barely a week, Mom says "When is Scott coming back" Niiiiiice!

I have the Physical therapist coming by about four times a week now to help mom with conditioning/exercise/walking.

Would be even more helpful if mom did any exercise on her own to supplement. File that under, pipe-dream, hell freezing over, coming of the apocalypse, end of times and Not So Much.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Shrug.

It's not just about a great sale at Macy's today!
                                                       HONOR the Fallen
Treasure your Family, your Friends, your Faith

I want to share this story with you cause it's pretty right on and you'll likely never visit the site where I found it.

I hope this message finds you well and enjoying your Memorial Day weekend.
It's so easy to let the events of the holiday pass without remembering why it is we are celebrating. It's so easy to forget that just a few short decades ago things were incredibly different. Well, different yet eerily similar. In 1940 evil was on the march as Hitler began unleashing his scheme to take over the world. Today, ISIS and death hungry violent radicals across the Middle East are attempting to do the same. Today, however, every day Americans can relax comfortably at home, knowing that the government can't force average citizens to go off and fight in war. In the 1940's, Americans were not afforded that same luxury. One letter in the mail could alter your life forever. Global conflict wasn't something easily shrugged off - it meant a draft notice could be right around the corner.
That was exactly what happened to Benjamin Lewis Salomon. After graduating dental school, he began his own practice in 1937 and even though the economy was still weak, he was able to do very well. He looked forward to eventually settling down and having children. But those plans came to a screeching halt when he received the draft letter.
The year was 1940. America was not yet at war, but that all changed, of course, just a year later with Japan's attack on Pearl Harbor. Salomon was deployed as a dental officer with the Army (who knew they had dental officers?) and as expected, didn't see much action. By 1944 Salomon had earned the rank of Captain but still hadn't been in combat. That was all about to change.
When his battalion surgeon suffered severe injuries, Salomon saw an opportunity and decided to volunteer to take the surgeon's place on the next mission. It was granted, and a few short hours later he found himself on the coast of Saipan with the 105th infantry, just 50 yards behind the line. The Japanese were cornered and desperate and unleashed a banzai attack, rushing the line. All hell was breaking loose - the enemy was bursting through line and in moments, an enemy combatant came surging into the medic tent. Salomon reacted quickly and killed the enemy, then urged the rest of his team to evacuate.
As they gathered the wounded and began to retreat, Salomon hurried over to the machine gun (the previous gunner had been killed) and set up shop. He engaged a sea of oncoming Japanese soldiers, but managed to hold them off while the others fled to safety. Captain Salomon did not survive the battle, but when it was all over and Americans had eventually re-taken the area, they were amazed when they surveyed the battlefield.

They found Captain Salomon slumped over the machine gun. There in front of him, were 98 dead Japanese attackers. Even more incredibly, Salomon had 76 bullet wounds, 24 of which he endured while still alive. It was also clear from the scene that Salomon had moved the machine gun at least four times to improve his position. Four times, while badly wounded and bleeding out, he found the strength to keep the fight going.
He eventually won the Medal of Honor in 2002 (the long delay was over the fact that he was a medic). Incredible. A guy who was on track for a nice comfortable life as a dentist ended up making the ultimate sacrifice for not only his country, but the countless American lives he saved in his final day on the battlefield.
What's equally incredible is that we no longer have to worry about our lives being upended on a moment's notice all because there are millions and millions of Americans who are ready and willing to voluntarily put themselves into the hell that is war so we don't have to.
It is truly the ultimate sacrifice. So to all those who have fallen, and to those who continue to risk it all to preserve freedom, we say thank you.

So let's hear it for my cuz!

 http://www.indystar.com/search/hildebrand/

JR Hildebrand,  racing for the CFH Team finished 8th at the INDY 500 today.

NOTE: Of the only 7 drivers ahead of him at the finish, 3 are with SuperTeam Penske, 2 with SuperTeam Target Chip Ganassi, 1 with Rahal Letterman Lannigan, and one with Andretti Racing. All teams with Gazillions of $$$$$ behind them.

While CFH is a good team!  It's kind of a Sissyfusian effort against the juggernaut.

You folks who know IndyCar racing know how impressive that is.

You folks who don't know IndyCar racing. See Below.

He was as high as 6th place and ran as low as 23rd. Lots of pit issues, crashes, strategies and he kept his nose clean and turned in another SOLID top ten finish! Best on his team... Joseph Newarden his teammate finished 9th, his co owner and other teammate Ed Carpenter was credited with 30th after crashing out midway.

For those of you who don't follow IndyCar racing....
1) You suck!

2) Wattsamattu?

3) That's 3 THREE TOP TEN finishes in the last 5 years in one of the toughest, longest and most important races in the world.
4) Folks we're talking 230 plus MPH inches away from other competitors! For 3 hours! Without a bathroom

 or Twinkie break!

Super Human!

OR as we know him.....

Just Sayin!

As one of my utmost favorite characters on a TV show says

HOLY CRAP ON A CRACKER!

If you don't know who/aren't watching/haven't watched I am sorry for you. You are not fulfilling your potential, cause this show may be the funniest ever.

So basically the above was my way of saying, WOW I've been away for a while now. Time apparently flies when you're trying to drain the swamp whilst the alligators are biting you in the ass!

Mom's day was last weekend, and it was somewhat of a working day for Gipetto, Tuesday, and your author.

The cousins were on an adjusted schedule as they prepared for their well deserved vacation to the Caribbean.  So Quinn helped mom (and herself) to a shower/hairwash with accompanying optional operator bath thrown in. Can only imagine her saying HUH? while turning to look at Quinn with a loaded Water Pik Shower Handle. YIKES!

So we had to invoke the hair dryer in the ol living room trick and mom had some more fun

So we had a mini family reunion via smart phone. I sent Paul and Susan a pic of mom, and they responded with pics of Paul and Tommy, Susan, David and Michelle. I then sent those pics over to Scott and Quinn who had gone over to Marges and they were able to share those pics on their phone with Marge, who was real happy to see the pics!

Amazingly that's the whole family up there in Washington, Mothers day at David and Michelles in SeaTown. Cathy David Paul Susan Michelle Tommy. Very Cool!

Reports already surfacing are that Scotto was en route to Blotto at the Bacardi factory tour.

Cool thing about partying on a Carribean Island. No real downside unless you are stoopid enuf to rent a car.

Today I came back upstairs from doing laundry at moms and waiting  the bedroon was good ol Olive Oil the neighbor cat.

I had seen her earlier as Helen had the door open for cat roaming, but her door was closed and Lil Orphan Olive was chillin in Mom's bedroom.

What me Worry?

Terribly funny cat!

Knocked on door with cat in hand and asked Helen if she wanted to buy a cat!

She thought Olive had come back in the house. Another breakout thwarted!

Important cat questions

More later.....Fading Fast
