Okey Doke. Back to topical news about family, political rants over for the time being.
We went to see Dr Aguilar yesterday for another follow up on her cataract surgery and the doc was very pleased with the progress of the eye.
The eye surgery and the healing are, by design, a fluid process. There is still swelling even after three weeks but that is to be expected. She is off the antibiotics and just on one medication/eye drop twice a day for the next two weeks.
He was very impressed with the visual progress so far and the tests that I saw were definetly better than just two weeks ago! She's about 20/40 now. Wow.
Mom, unfortunately, had a fall in the kitchen last night and got a visit from her favorite paramedics. (when you start knowing the paramedics by name.......... Well you get the idea.
Apparently the breakfast of a piece of toast and then no lunch before the adventure to the doctors office (wheelchair only this time) contributed to enough fatigue that she fell while preparing some soup for dinner. I also understand that her crappy shoes (comfy but sloppy) contributed to the problem. If they are still there when I take lunch to her today they are going in the trash!
We'll have a shoe intervention and resolution by Saturday.
Once again, a year later we are having similar issues with nutrition and will have to redouble our efforts to get the worlds stubbornest mom to eat regularly/properly.
It is even more -uh-something- when dispatchers recognize your voice during the call for the paramedics - and the fact that the parking guys at 3 hospitals know me by name is a strange comfort - The only success with the eating thing I've found is company - for at least 2 meals a day- hired, friends, drop-ins to trick her into thinking someone might show up so she plans for a meal - I will commit-& get back to you
