Monday and I met with the home caregiver, Lee this morning. She's real nice, basically just like the real nice ones at the Coventry. Showed her the lay of the land and then left her to manage mom and clean a few things. She fixed mom breakfast (Oatmeal) and then lunch later.
Mom had a couple of visitors including her former coworker and his nephew. Baseer and Dylan.
They brought a gift (a nice blanket) and a huge bouquet of lily's.
Mom was sort of tired today but mostly fine. Brian stopped by and did a bunch of projects and will return in a week or so for more.

Oaky now, Mom is BACK AT HER APARTMENT! Long Lonnnnggggggg journey. Since October 23rd 2013.
We finished the move this morning and moved her back just after noon today. Scott, Quinn, Paul, Susan and I packed up all the rest of her stuff and brought it over to Lupine.
Paul went down and picked up Kentucky fried chicken and sides for the troops.
Mom is using her walker around the house and is doing very well with it.
Caregiver is coming tomorrow in the morning to assist with breakfast, laundry, shower, lunch.
It's all a work in progress but we'll get it straight.
Mom was in the dining room at the Coventry today and was able to say goodbye to many of her lunch room neighbors. They said they would miss her! We'll likely take her back for a visit in a week or so.

Well the July birthday/Mom's farewell to the Coventry and return to her apartment went off swimmingly!
Mom, Marge, Herb, Paul, Susan, Scott, Quinn, Diane, Brian, Glen in attendance. Alexa and Robin were too sick to attend .
We had HoneyBaked Ham and Turkey with plenty for leftovers, lots of side dishes (Salad, Pasta, Fruit Salad) and Great desserts courtesy of Quinn (Pineapple upside over cake and a GREAT nectarine etc. Galette!!) Diane's famous summer sherbet punch.
Coventry set up the third floor activities room for a reasonable fee and provided paper plates, utensils, disposable tablecloths and glasses.
We exchanged cards and best wishes and hung out for a few hours, then went down to moms room and started phase one of the take down and moved a bunch of stuff over to Lupine! Phase two tomorrow and other than cleanup we should have her back in her own place tomorrow early afternoon.

HER NEW NEW PHONE NUMBER IS 415 386 8359

Well, the Blowhards got to the candles so Brian and I never had a chance!! Maybe next year.

So the July birthday/moms going away from the Coventry party is tomorrow at 1 p.m.
Paul and Susan are down from Bellingham and we went out to dinner with Marge at Osteria last night. Good times, good food.
Mom is in phone limbo due to the pathetic customer service from AT&T.
They were supposed to hook up her new phone and number back at the apartment today, supposed to call me an hour ahead of time so I could meet them there. Just shocked that they dropped the ball yet again.
Know why AT&T employees don't look out the window in the morning?
Because they wouldn't have anything to do in the afternoon if they did.
So she *might* have a phone at the apartment tomorrow, she might not. Certainly they were johhny on the spot for the disconnection of her working phone at the Coventry! You'd think they wouldn't disconnect unless they were sure they were going to connect. But hey, it's not like we actually have to PAY them right, I mean it's a free service right?? No? WTF!
I'm also pretty sure that when I call *customer service* tomorrow, they'll tell me that nobody who could identify a pair of pliers will be working on the weekend. It's not as if people use their phones 24/7 or anything. I mean 'AS IF'

So today, thanks to the intrepid Scott and Quinn, we got the apartment totally cleaned, fit for a queen. We did some rearranging in the bathroom and mounted a safety toilette seat with grab bars AND a purple seat! Got a temporary shower curtain up (till the permanent one from the Coventry comes back.
Tossed all of the garbage and perishables from the cabinets. We'll need to lay provisions for moms return. We got the carpet strips installed and Scott is working on the threshold for the bathroom.
The place is looking very presentable.

Went to Lowe's and picked up the materials for the railing we're going to put in the hallway to give that added level of security to mom as she navigates the hallway on her walker. The apartment manager is going to have his workers install. YAY!
Had dinner with mom yesterday and spoke to Joshua, the in house physical therapist. He's going to maximize his time with mom while she's there and work with her on walking with walker and transferring. He's very encouraged by her progress as well.
Mom will be getting yet another phone number when she comes back to her apartment. BOO!
AT&T is simply abysmal with respect to customer service. Horrible doesn't even begin to describe how bad they are. Nearly an hour to move service with a rep from India. PATHETIC! Had to ask her to repeat nearly everything over and over, followed by long periods of silence while her "system" was going slow. Third world, third rate!
Her new number, effective 7/25, "should" be 415 386 8355

Well we took mom for an adventure today. Scott, Quinn and I met over at the Coventry and kidnapped her for an exploratory journey to her old apartment.
We took her wheelchair and her walker and schlepped her over to Lupine.
All went well, mom is able to get from the wheelchair into the car fine and then we wheeled her from car into the elevator and had her wheel down the hall to #301.
She's definitely motivated and has progressed in her physical therapy as well.
Here's mom enjoying the apartment.
We had visits from some of her neighbors and they were excited to hear that she was coming back at the end of the month.
We saw her across the hall neighbor and his cat Olive, who was curious and wanted to welcome mom back to the homestead.
We made some plans regarding a new guardrail in the hall and we're going to remove some of the trip hazard rugs as well as put some carpet strips in the living room
We spent a couple hours all told with this adventure and mom had a real good time. We also had a visit from her neighbor Jan and we saw a couple other neighbors who were also glad to hear that she was returning.
We packed her up and got her back to the Coventry just in time for lunch!

Had lunch with mom today and when I arrived she was in the downstairs lounge entertaining her former coworker Baseer and his nephew. They talked a lot about older work acquaintances and had some laughs. She told them about the movie she had seen and was quite animated.
We had to say goodbye as they were leaving for GG Park and we needed to get her up to the dining room for a late lunch of corn chowder.
