Holy crap on a cracker it's been a while since I sat down and rocked the blog.
Mom got back to her apartment just about a month ago and it's working out pretty well with just one fall (slipped off the bed putting shoes on)
Her caregiver Lee was there and rode down to St Francis ER with her and stayed with her all day!
DID I MENTION THAT LEE IS THE GREATEST!!!
Moms xrays and cat scan were negative, no breaks, just some bruises. Got lucky. Then had a talk about "preventable" falls. To that end we have a physical therapist working with her three days a week for an hour at at time. Working on exercise and strength building as well as fall prevention and walker practice.
There's been some complacency and some backsliding setting in and we have to constantly reinforce the importance of moving forward.
She is eating well but we need to transition from too much reliance on frozen food and more on healthier fare.
Scott and Quinn took her on an adventure to Target and she had a fine time.
Mom's going to have cataract surgery in a few weeks on the other eye. Expect no diffuculties and clear vision going forward.
On the other front, Marge is doing pretty well after her visit to the ER a couple weeks ago.
More later.

YIKES! Sunday already. Last weekend we had the moving/going away party for Mom and wrapped things up at the Coventry.
Paul and Susan left for the wilds of Seattle, Bellingham and points north. Was GREAT having them here to help and for moral support.
We hired a caregiver to come and help mom 4 hours a day and she is working out real well.
Seniors at Home is a great outfit. Second time dealing with them and they exceeded my expectations.
Just when we thought it was safe, thought things were settling down to a dull roar, Aunt Marge had some health issues that required a trip to the ER and admission for medication adjustments and observation at St. Francis Hosp.
Arrrggghhhhh
Her ankles were swelling and making ambulating difficult. Docs changed a couple of the meds and had physical therapy work with/evaluate her. They have recommended losing the cane and going to a walker for stability.
So not an acutely serious situation but concerning for sure.
We will be reaching out to Seniors at Home again this week to see about getting someone to come over and do essentially the same thing for her that we're having done for Mom.
Someone to do breakfast and lunch prep, light housekeeping, laundry etc.
Word is that Marge will be released to go home today and she has a followup doctor appt with her Primary on Monday.
That's all (enough?) for now.

Monday and I met with the home caregiver, Lee this morning. She's real nice, basically just like the real nice ones at the Coventry. Showed her the lay of the land and then left her to manage mom and clean a few things. She fixed mom breakfast (Oatmeal) and then lunch later.
Mom had a couple of visitors including her former coworker and his nephew. Baseer and Dylan.
They brought a gift (a nice blanket) and a huge bouquet of lily's.
Mom was sort of tired today but mostly fine. Brian stopped by and did a bunch of projects and will return in a week or so for more.

Oaky now, Mom is BACK AT HER APARTMENT! Long Lonnnnggggggg journey. Since October 23rd 2013.
We finished the move this morning and moved her back just after noon today. Scott, Quinn, Paul, Susan and I packed up all the rest of her stuff and brought it over to Lupine.
Paul went down and picked up Kentucky fried chicken and sides for the troops.
Mom is using her walker around the house and is doing very well with it.
Caregiver is coming tomorrow in the morning to assist with breakfast, laundry, shower, lunch.
It's all a work in progress but we'll get it straight.
Mom was in the dining room at the Coventry today and was able to say goodbye to many of her lunch room neighbors. They said they would miss her! We'll likely take her back for a visit in a week or so.

Well the July birthday/Mom's farewell to the Coventry and return to her apartment went off swimmingly!
Mom, Marge, Herb, Paul, Susan, Scott, Quinn, Diane, Brian, Glen in attendance. Alexa and Robin were too sick to attend .
We had HoneyBaked Ham and Turkey with plenty for leftovers, lots of side dishes (Salad, Pasta, Fruit Salad) and Great desserts courtesy of Quinn (Pineapple upside over cake and a GREAT nectarine etc. Galette!!) Diane's famous summer sherbet punch.
Coventry set up the third floor activities room for a reasonable fee and provided paper plates, utensils, disposable tablecloths and glasses.
We exchanged cards and best wishes and hung out for a few hours, then went down to moms room and started phase one of the take down and moved a bunch of stuff over to Lupine! Phase two tomorrow and other than cleanup we should have her back in her own place tomorrow early afternoon.

HER NEW NEW PHONE NUMBER IS 415 386 8359

Well, the Blowhards got to the candles so Brian and I never had a chance!! Maybe next year.

So the July birthday/moms going away from the Coventry party is tomorrow at 1 p.m.
Paul and Susan are down from Bellingham and we went out to dinner with Marge at Osteria last night. Good times, good food.
Mom is in phone limbo due to the pathetic customer service from AT&T.
They were supposed to hook up her new phone and number back at the apartment today, supposed to call me an hour ahead of time so I could meet them there. Just shocked that they dropped the ball yet again.
Know why AT&T employees don't look out the window in the morning?
Because they wouldn't have anything to do in the afternoon if they did.
So she *might* have a phone at the apartment tomorrow, she might not. Certainly they were johhny on the spot for the disconnection of her working phone at the Coventry! You'd think they wouldn't disconnect unless they were sure they were going to connect. But hey, it's not like we actually have to PAY them right, I mean it's a free service right?? No? WTF!
I'm also pretty sure that when I call *customer service* tomorrow, they'll tell me that nobody who could identify a pair of pliers will be working on the weekend. It's not as if people use their phones 24/7 or anything. I mean 'AS IF'
